MLS player gets a tattoo of *himself* lifting the cup

It takes a special kind of confidence to get a tattoo of your own face elsewhere on your body.

But when you convert the winning penalty in a major final, it’s probably fair that we give you a little leeway.

Seattle Sounders defender Román Torres scored the goal that earned his team the first ever MLS Cup in their short history.

Brian Schmetzer’s team won 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw in normal time, when they recorded no shots on target and had the heroics of goalkeeper Stefan Frei to thank for keeping them in the game.

But that moment of victory was so sweet for Torres that he had to find a way to make it last forever.

So he took this.

It’s certainly more extravagant than the effort of teammate Frei, who got a tattoo of a star to commemorate the Sounders’ first title.

But how does it compare to other footballing figures’ famous ink?

Neymar has the Olympic Rings following his part in Brazil’s gold medal run in Rio, and Alberto Moreno has a particularly badass ape on his body.

But none of these are a patch on referee Mark Clattenburg, who has a Champions League tattoo complete with trademark symbol. Yes, really.
