Netflix have updated their library and there are some cracking films available

If you’re looking for something good to watch this weekend, these are for you.

With the amount of decent movies and TV that available to us on terrestrial television over the Christmas period, you might not have scanned through the Netflix library in a while.

We’ll always keep you up to date about the newest releases, but trust us when we say that there are some brilliant new films available.

Here are some of the best titles that have recently arrived –  some of these even made our ‘Best films of 2016‘ list.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Rotten tomatoes rating: 97%

Plot: A national manhunt is ordered for a rebellious kid and his foster uncle who go missing in the wild New Zealand bush.

Green Room

Rotten tomatoes rating: 90%

Plot: A punk rock band is forced to fight for survival after witnessing a murder at a neo-Nazi skinhead bar.

Sing Street

Rotten tomatoes rating: 96%

Plot: A boy growing up in Dublin during the 1980s escapes his strained family life by starting a band to impress the mysterious girl he likes.

Whiplash

Plot: A promising young drummer enrols at a cut-throat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student’s potential.

A Most Violent Year

Plot: In New York City 1981, an ambitious immigrant fights to protect his business and family during the most dangerous year in the city’s history.

Anomalisa

Rotten tomatoes rating: 93%

Plot: A man crippled by the mundanity of his life experiences something out of the ordinary.

Bone Tomahawk

Rotten tomatoes rating: 90%

Plot: Four men set out in the Wild West to rescue a group of captives from cannibalistic cave dwellers.

Son of Saul

Rotten tomatoes rating: 96%

Plot: In the horror of 1944 Auschwitz, a prisoner forced to burn the corpses of his own people finds moral survival upon trying to salvage from the flames the body of a boy he takes for his son.

The Invitation

Rotten tomatoes rating: 88%

Plot: While attending a dinner party at his former home, a man thinks his ex-wife and her new husband have sinister intentions for their guests.

Victoria

Rotten tomatoes rating: 84%

Plot: A young Spanish woman who has newly moved to Berlin finds her flirtation with a local guy turn potentially deadly as their night out with his friends reveals a dangerous secret.
