The City boss hasn't had a lot to smile about lately.
Pep Guardiola has looked increasing like a man coming to the end of his tether.
In recent weeks the Catalan has become visibly more and more frustrated with each setback as Manchester City’s form has stuttered. Which is understandable for a mercurial perfectionist far more used to being well clear at the top of the table by this point in the season.
That frustration has boiled over publicly at times as he’s become increasing tetchy with the media’s infuriating habit of constantly asking him questions. I mean it’s whenever they see him. These guys just never let up. Questions, questions, questions. Like it’s their job or something.
And that was before his team was humiliated in a 4-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday, handing Pep the heaviest league defeat of his career.
Between John Stones forgetting how to kick a ball into touch, Fernandinho collecting red cards like Panini stickers and Claudio Bravo looking like he’d struggle to save a word document at the moment, everything appears to be going wrong.
However, the sullen Spaniard has finally received some good news – after a long wait, Gabriel Jesus is joining his squad.
City agreed the deal for the 19-year-old striker from Palmeiras in the summer with a view to him joining in this transfer window. However the club was unable to register him in time for the Everton match.
City confirmed today the paperwork has now been completed and the Brazilian is ready be unveiled as Pep’s sixth signing. More importantly he is now available to make is debut against Spurs this weekend.
With Sergio Agüero struggling to recapture his best form and Kelechi Iheanacho far from the finished product, the highly-rated teenager gives Pep some much-needed reinforcement to City’s forward line.
