The iconic singer was honoured this evening for his 25th and final studio album, Blackstar.

The best musical talent in Britain are gathered at the Brit Awards this evening and it’s fitting that David Bowie has rightfully won the award for best male solo artist for his 2016 album, Blackstar.

The iconic singer sadly passed away on January 10th, just two days after the release of his final studio album.

His award was accepted by actor Michael C Hall, who starred in the musical Lazarus, which was written and composed by Bowie and Enda Walsh.

“If David Bowie could be here tonight, he probably wouldn’t be here,” Hall said while accepting the award.

Hall vowed to “accept this testament to a man beholden to nothing but his own imagination and daring” before praising Bowie’s “artistic vitality which simultaneously soothes, sears and astounds us. His kindness, generosity and enthusiasm inspires me to be a better man.”

Here’s his speech in full.
