US news anchors seamlessly drop Notorious BIG tribute into broadcast on 20th anniversary of his death

That's one way to pay tribute

Conor Heneghan

Well played.

The many fans of the Notorious BIG will have known that yesterday, March 9, marked the 20th anniversary of the death of one of the most influential figures in the history of rap music.

Two decades on, people are still listening to his music and the anniversary was cause for another flood of tributes in his direction, including a very impressive one from the news team at WSB-TV Atlanta.

News anchor Fred Blankenship and traffic guy Mark Arum combined to seamlessly slip Notorious BIG lyrics and references into the course of their daily reports, including the line ‘Ashley, Ashley, Ashley, these downtown delays keep hypnotising me’.

Blankenship and Arum have form as far as these types of tributes are concerned, having last year done something similar for the late Phife Dawg.
