Let’s be really clear on this one: violence is never, *ever* the answer, kids.
That said, what the hell did these Tottenham fans expect to happen to them in this situation?
Fresh from watching their side progress to an FA Cup semi-final by thumping Millwall 6-0 at White Hart Lane, a video shows a couple of Spurs supporters standing by a roadside as the away fans are escorted away from the ground.
With some police riot vans visible towards the back of the shot, the pair begin to chant “we fucking hate Millwall” for all to hear.
Regardless of the reputations some Millwall supporters might have earned for themselves in years gone by, taunting any rival fans in such a way is still a ridiculously stupid thing to do, as becomes clear within seconds.
Two men wearing black caps approach the pair and, with a quick look over his shoulder (perhaps to see where the police are), one of them knocks one of the Spurs fans to the ground with a right-handed punch, prompting cheers from some of the Millwall supporters.
