We so often see minutes of silence ahead of games, when players honour the death of a former player or figure associated with the club.
But it’s rare that we see training sessions begin with a group of teammates huddled together to mark a former player’s passing.
Ronnie Moran’s death is a difficult one for Liverpool supporters to digest.
Former teammates and fellow Reds legends have been paying tribute to one of the club’s greatest ever captains all day after Moran passed away at the age of 83.
The current squad found out about the sad news at their training base in Tenerife, where players not involved in international games will be working over the coming days.
And ahead of training on Wednesday, the players took part in a goosebump-inducing minute’s silence around the centre circle to reflect on the legacy of a true legend of the game.

“It’s a sad day,” manager Jurgen Klopp said. “I had the honour of meeting him last year around the League Cup final. Obviously I am not from Liverpool, I am not from England, and so I needed a little bit of help but when I heard about this very special story then it was really nice to meet him. It was a big honour for me.

“Today is a very sad day for all of us. All of our thoughts and all of our love are with the family.
“We tried to pay our respects like a football club should do for a real member of the club, a real figure of the club, with a minute of silence.
“It was impressive because the players were immediately in the mood; all of them have heard about him and that shows how special his relationship with this great club was.”
