UFC edging closer to adding star to already stacked division

One of the most exciting divisions in all of MMA

How stacked is too stacked?

The UFC added David Branch to their roster recently. The former WSOF two-division champion is set to make his promotional return against streaking 185 lber Krzysztof Jotko at UFC 211. Now, they’re looking to poach another one of the organisation’s biggest stars.

WSOF bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes, a training partner of Frankie Edgar, Edson Barboza and Eddie Alvarez is reportedly close to signing for the world’s largest MMA promotion.

Moraes has a record of 18-4-1, has won all 11 of his fights under the WSOF banner and is currently riding a seriously impressive 13-fight win-streak. Bearing in mind the criteria for joining the UFC is usually three wins on the bounce, one could say this move would be long overdue.

With three of the P4P greatest fighters in the world – Cody Garbrandt, Dominick Cruz and TJ Dillashaw – currently sitting atop the UFC’s 135 lb division, not to mention the likes of Raphael Assuncao, John Lineker, John Dodson, Jimmie Rivera and Bryan Carraway in the top 10, this would be an incredible acquisition to a division that’s already full of talent.

Surely, WSOF lightweight champion Justn Gaethje will be next on the agenda. The 17-0 knockout artist is arguably the most exciting fighter not in the UFC right now.
