Less than 24 hours after the game between Borussia Dortmund and Monaco should have been played, supporters of both clubs returned to Westfalenstadion.

Explosions close to the Dortmund team bus had prompted Uefa to postpone the Champions League quarter final first leg.

Obviously, there was a great deal of concern amongst those supporters that had gathered in the stadium as news of the explosion began to filter through to them.

Thankfully, it’s since become clear that nobody was seriously injured by the explosions, and the game was rearranged for Wednesday.

In the time since, it’s clear that the incident has brought supporters of the two clubs closer together. Monaco’s fans were thanked by Dortmund for chanting their hosts name repeatedly as the initial reports started to reach the stadium on Tuesday evening.

Later, when it emerged that many Monaco supporters with tickets for the game had no accommodation allowing them to stay in the city for an extra night, Dortmund fans started a social media campaign to try and help them out.

Minutes before kick off on Wednesday, TV cameras captured Monaco supporters joining their Dortmund counterparts in their traditional pre-match rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone.
