It’s one of those things that’s happened to everyone – you’re on a simple mission to evacuate the last CIA personnel from a South American warzone, when you get shot down in the middle of the jungle and have to fight for your life against cartels, mercenaries and rebel forces, all on their territory.
Ok, maybe it’s not that common. But that is what you get to experience in Fallen Ghosts, the latest DLC from Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands – which previously was only available to season pass holders, but as of today is out for all gamers.
The current instalment of the ever-popular Ghost Recon series sees the action move to a fictionalised near-future Bolivia, eschewing the sci-fi flavour of the last few games to see you take on Narcos-style drug cartels. This new update picks up where the main game left off, with the Santa Blanca Cartel having fallen and a new regime trying to eliminate all remaining American agents.
As you can see from the trailer, we’re getting some proper beginning-of-Predator vibes from the new missions: a big-ass chopper storming into the jungle, getting shot down, and then hard-as-hell elite ops both on the run and kicking ass in one of nature’s most unforgiving environments.
The update offers 15 all-new missions and four new bosses, in three different regions. The DLC also promises six exclusive new weapons, including assault rifles, sniper rifles and a rather fun sounding crossbow with explosive arrows. The game’s levelling system will also be expanded, with an extra five levels added, along with nine new in-game skills to unlock as you progress through them. Don’t worry if you are coming to the game fresh though – you start out as new level 30 character equipped with all the main game’s abilities, so you can dive right into the action.
For Wildlands devotees, there are also tweaked advanced difficulty levels, giving you a hard-as-nails gaming experience should you really want to challenge yourself.
