Peter Sallis, the voice behind Wallace and Gromit and star of Last of the Summer Wine has died.
Sallis passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 96, his agent has confirmed.
He was best known for voicing Wallace in beloved British film series Wallace and Gromit and appearing as Norman Clegg in the long-running sitcom Last of the Summer Wine.Â
Sallis was the only actor to appear in every episode of the series, filming 295 episodes across 37 years.
Although he was born and brought up in London, Sallis was known for his Northern accent and mannerisms when playing Wallace and Norman Clegg.
He had retired from acting in 2010.
