Watch Gareth Bale’s awkward first Spanish interview

JOE

Bringing back memories of foreign language
orals at GCSE, here’s Gareth Bale speaking Spanish.

We think the Welshman got off lightly – we would have needed to have more than just three sentences to show after two years’ work.

Bale hasn’t spoken Spanish in public since joining Real Madrid from Spurs, but has been reportedly been taking lessons since moving to Spain.

So, finally, this was his chance to shine, to show off all his hard work in his first Spanish interview… and it was very awkward.

“The fans are good with me,” Bale said in his adopted country’s native tongue.

“It’s a dream for me to play for Real Madrid. I give everything for the shirt.”
