Neymar reportedly set for world-record breaking move to Paris Saint-Germain

Over double the money Man United paid for Paul Pogba

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly willing to shell out a world-record transfer fee for Barcelona’s Neymar.

The Brazilian, who has been at Barca since 2013, is said to have had a €222m (nearly £200m) buyout clause inserted into his most recent contract with the club – a fee PSG are said to be willing to meet in order to bring him to the French capital.

Reports that the dethroned Ligue 1 champions would be willing to part with such an enormous amount of the Qatari royal family’s hard-earned cash have come from Marca, who claim such a move will be made if they get an indication from the player that he’d be willing to leave Spain.

Now, according to Brazilian TV channel Esporte Interativo, PSG have been given such an indication from Neymar, who has accepted their offer.

The Marca story followed an article in Sport – the imaginatively named Barcelona-based sports newspaper – which claimed that Neymar felt his progress at Barca was being hampered by Lionel Messi.

Perhaps significantly (perhaps not), the news comes just weeks after Messi agreed a contract extension at the Camp Nou.

If such a move does happen, Marca add that PSG would be willing to pay the 25-year-old €30m (£26.6m) annually. Unsurprisingly, both Manchester clubs are also said to have had an interest in the player, although the enormous transfer fee is thought to have been too much, even for them.
