Manchester City fans have seemingly been advised to tune in to the official fan channel of their fiercest rivals if they want to watch the preseason derby on Friday.
City will meet Manchester United in the early hours of Friday morning in Houston and due to United’s exclusive (and very expensive) broadcast deal with MUTV, City supporters in the UK and Ireland seemingly have no other recourse but to watch the game on that channel.
City’s official Twitter account released advice to the club’s fans around the world, recommending various networks depending on the particular country from which you’d be watching from but, curiously, the United Kingdom does not make the list on the official website.
Supporters, being a clever bunch, read between the lines and realised that they’d have to rely on MUTV if they are to see their side’s first game of the US tour.
The #manchesterderby goes stateside! 💪🇺🇸
Here's how you can tune in. #cityontour https://t.co/dcKlWBkMxe

While City fans can follow a live blog of all the goings-on at the NRG Stadium via the club’s official website, mancity.com, they will have to tolerate United-heavy coverage for live footage of the game.
And that fact did not go unnoticed in the replies to the above tweet.
So the only place we can watch it is on MUTV?

So to watch this game City fans have to subscribe to MUTV. The sooner we get our own channel the better.
