It’s great to see how much he cares.
Jurgen Klopp clearly doesn’t believe in the idea of a friendly game. The Liverpool manager always wears his heart on his sleeve and it’s great to have such a colourful character in our game. The passion he shows is a credit to football and it’s why he’s loved by many fans not remotely affiliated with Anfield.
If you thought he’d use pre-season to relax and not take things quite so seriously, you’re very much mistaken.
The Reds were playing Leicester City in the Hong Kong Stadium (unsurprisingly in Hong Kong) as part of the Premier League Asia Trophy on Saturday, and both teams were giving it full pelt despite the ‘friendly’ nature of the game. And Jurgen was definitely treating it like any other game.
Not long into the prestige match, the gregarious German was incredibly animated on the touchline at some decisions he felt didn’t go his way. Then, during a break in proceedings, he went face-to-face with a somewhat bemused ref Bobby Madley, giving him a tirade of passionate opinion.
What a character!
