Goosebumps.
Game of Thrones fans will know that it’s extremely difficult to summarise certain characters from just one particular moment, but there was a scene in Season 7 that defined Jon Snow’s heroism, bravery and nobility.
Cast your mind back to the Dragonstone throne room and that very tense meeting between the King in the North and the Mother of Dragons.
As per usual, Ser Davos was the voice of reason when he said “If destiny has brought Daenerys Targareyn back to our shores, it has also made Jon Snow the King in the North. You were the first to bring Dothraki to Westeros, he (Jon) is the first to make allies of wildlings and Northmen. He was named Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, he was named King in the North – not because of his birthright. he has no birthright. He’s a damn bastard! All those hard sons of bitches chose him as their leader because they believe in him. All those things that you don’t believe in, he faced those things. He fought those things for the good of his people, he risked his life for his people. He took a knife in the heart for his people. He gave his own…”
Well, we know what Ser Davos was about to say next.
Jon is the man that will lead the fight against the Night King as The Great War approaches.
Aside from being the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, it’s looking increasingly likely that Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen is ‘The Prince that was Promised.’
In the most recent episodes, we saw Jon travel beyond the Wall as he did battle with the army of the dead, but more importantly, he’s starting to embrace his Targaryen heritage.
A song of ice and fire.
This being said, there are still questions that surround his future.
How will the King in the North react to the news that he’s part dragon and part wolf? Will he continue his incestuous relationship with his aunt Daenerys? Can Jon make peace with the fact he’s the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, or is he too much like the heroic and stoic Ned Stark?
Season 8 can’t come quickly enough, but if you need something to tide you over, this amazing montage tribute should do the trick.
Goosebumps.
