It sounds like Edinson Cavani is having none of Neymar’s crap

Good man, Cavani

This probably won’t end well for Cavani.

Details continue to emerge about the dispute between Edinson Cavani and Neymar. The Paris Saint-Germain pair twice clashed during the 2-0 win over Lyon on Sunday night.

First, Cavani was prevented by Dani Alves from taking a free-kick. The Brazilian full-back wouldn’t give his teammate the ball, handing it instead to Neymar.

Neymar and Cavani were then involved in a dispute over a penalty.

The Uruguayan striker has been PSG’s designated penalty-taker since Zlatan Ibrahimovic left for Manchester United in 2016. But Neymar was bought by the Qatari-owned enterprise for a world record fee, so he could probably be the team’s goalkeeper if he wanted to be.

However, Cavani refused to bow to Neymar, and the former Barcelona forward walked away muttering and shaking his head before Cavani’s spot-kick was saved.

Neymar didn’t come across as a team player in the clip, and the sight of Dani Alves preventing Cavani from taking a free-kick so Neymar could take it instead was embarrassing.

Reports also emerged that Neymar “unfollowed” his teammate on Instagram after the dispute, which is pathetic beyond words if true.

Now reports have come out about a dressing room argument following the match on Sunday.

According to L’Equipe, the pair continued their dispute after the game, and it almost resulted in a “physical confrontation” after Cavani told Neymar that he “did not appreciate his attitude.” Thiago Silva, the PSG captain, reportedly stopped a fight from happening.

Cavani has since said there is “no problem” between him and Neymar. However, Cavani is hardly going to come out and say he doesn’t like Neymar and the Brazilian has no excuse for such a crap haircut when he makes £500,000 a week.

The easy thing for Cavani would have been to let Neymar get his way, but he stood his ground and that’s an admirable stance to take. If the pair can’t resolve their dispute, it won’t be a surprise to see the Uruguayan striker leave the Qatari-owned team in the near future.
