You don’t often see police take to the football pitch.
Leeds supporters were left perplexed after 120 minutes of their Carabao Cup clash with Burnley on Tuesday night, when a police officer seemingly advised the referee against allowing the penalty shootout to take place at the away supporters’ end of Turf Moor.
The sides could not be separated after extra time, which followed a scintillating final few minutes of regular time in which three goals were scored, so a shootout was ordered to decide the winner.
Typically the referee flips a coin to determine which end of the ground the shootout takes place but that wasn’t the case on Tuesday, as law enforcement got involved.

Fans of the visitors were none too pleased with the apparent advantage that the hosts had been awarded but it didn’t make a blind bit of difference from 12 yards as Thomas Christiansen’s men held their nerve and were flawless from the spot, securing a spot in the fourth round of the cup.
It’s been a terrific start to the season for Leeds, who sit atop the Championship table with five wins and two draws from eight league games this season.
Right so the police have got involved and advised the officials that the pens should be taken at the Burnley end… why?!?!

No toss for which end the penos are in Burnley v Leeds because the police don't want them in front of the Leeds fans. Footballs gone.

Presumably the police wanted the penalties taken at the Burnley end because they all have the same surname
