Yes, we really have written a story on this.
By now, there’s a good chance you’ve seen the picture Mark Noble tweeted last Thursday afternoon.
Taken by the West Ham captain as he left their training base in his car, we see him posing beside one of his fans who proudly holds aloft a club shirt with his hero’s name and number printed on the back.
‘All the way from China,’ Noble’s tweet reads, with a Chinese flag and a couple of thumbs up emojis thrown in for good measure. At the time of writing, the tweet has clocked up nearly 850 retweets. Not bad going, but a long way short of the amount of attention a tweet supposedly sent by the other man in the picture has received…

A reply from Ling Wann, who many have interpreted as being the fan taken in the picture with Noble, points out that he’s actually South Korean, not Chinese. The tweet, sent on Sunday afternoon, is fast approaching 70,000 retweets.

Many have claimed the Ling Wann account responsible for sending the tweet is a hoax.
Strangely, an earlier reply to Noble’s tweet, sent from someone else claiming to be the fan in the picture, also points out that they are South Korean, not Chinese. That too managed over 1,000 retweets, but also prompted an apology from Noble late on Sunday.
Still following? Good. You’ve done well.
Although we can’t say for certain, we’re reasonably confident that neither of the two accounts that have replied to Noble are associated with the man in the picture.
Poor Mark.
