Shocking referee prompts cornerman’s cage invasion in Brazil

So very dangerous

We don’t condone the attack but it’s probably a good thing that this cornerman took the law into his own hands.

At an event in Brazil over the weekend, some atrocious refereeing resulted in a coach jumping into the cage to save his fighter, who had been unconscious for several seconds.

Capanema Fight Combat hosted the fight between Silmar ‘Sombra’ Nunes and Caio ‘Paturi’ Robson Silva, which ended in very concerning circumstances as a guillotine on Robson Silva grew increasingly tighter.

The third man in the cage looked to be on top of matters as he repeatedly checked Robson Silva’s arms to check whether he was still conscious or not.

The fact that his arm dropped limply should have been the cue to stop the contest but, for some bizarre reason, the referee allowed it to continue.

One of Robson Silva’s cornermen, however, was not prepared to sit idly by and watch his unconscious fighter continue to be strangled as he hopped the fence and proceeded to break up the choke by raining down punches on Nunes.

Credit to Nunes as, despite being attacked, he showed tremendous respect for his opponent by checking on him immediately after tempers calmed down.

And as for the referee, perhaps he should consider a different line of work.
