Game of Thrones star has some very bad news for fans of the show

So it ain't so :(

Say it’s not so!

Game of Thrones’ Liam Cunningham has fuelled speculation the final season of the HBO series won’t be airing until 2019, as he revealed filming will go on until next summer.

Production reportedly began on the final six episodes of the fantasy series over the weekend, with an air date yet to be confirmed.

The series had previously rumoured to be airing some time in 2018 or 2019, but with the Dubliner confirming they will still be filming for a huge chunk of next year, fans could be waiting awhile for more Westeros on screen.

He told TV Guide:

“[The episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer.

“We’re filming right up until the summer.

“When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes.

“So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”

While we’re definitely excited about the prospect of longer episodes, we’re a little disappointed that it’s looking unlikely season 8 will be on screen before 2019.

And the actor, who plays Ser Davos on-screen, isn’t the only Game of Thrones star to be teasing fans with details of the “monumental” and “high-octane” episodes.

John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly,  told The Huffington Post:

“I think what we used to call episode nine in Game of Thrones folklore – the episode when everything comes to a head and you get a lot of spectacular sequences – I think you’re gonna get six ‘episode nines’ this year.”
