Arthur Collins, the former boyfriend of reality TV star Ferne McCann has appeared in court, accused of an acid attack in a crowded nightclub.

The 25-year-old admits throwing a substance in the a nightclub in Dalston, east London during the early hours of April 17 but denies knowing it was acid. Several people were injured in the incident which took place after Collins got into an argument with a group of men in the Mangle E8 nightclub.

A week before, Collins had sent a text to his sister which read: ‘Tell mum to mind that little hand wash in my car acid’. He explained to the jurors in Wood Green Crown Court that he had been referring to some shampoo he used which contained amino acid, adding that he had been concerned about his young nieces finding it.

The court also heard how Collins had undergone two hair transplants and was keeping the shampoo in his car to hide his hair loss from his girlfriend. It was also explained that he used other products, such as Professional-C Serum and Regain.

Collins denies five counts of GBH with intent, and nine counts of actual bodily harm ANH against 14 people. Andre Phoenix, who is also accused, denies four counts of GBH and two counts of ABH.

The trial continues.
