David Moyes is back.
After successfully pulling apart Sir Alex Ferguson’s legacy at Manchester United in ten months, sharing some crisps with some Real Sociedad fans and seeing that Sunderland finally succumbed to relegation from the Premier League, he was seen as the ideal man to follow on from recently-sacked Slaven Bilic at West Ham.
The first game of Moyes’ West Ham career came at Watford, ending in a 2-0 defeat for the Hammers. Goals from Will Hughes and Richarlison – one in each half – were enough for the home side to take the three points. It wasn’t enough, however, to convince too many watching that Moyes was about to turn things round for the club any time soon.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Moyes was asked what he’d made of the performance.
“Well, I think most people would’ve expected something like that because that’s the way it’s been,” he replied.
Now, in fairness to Moyesey, he did swiftly follow this by explaining how he was “disappointed” they hadn’t done better, pointing to a couple of opportunities to scoring for his players.
The problem was, lots of people appeared to stop listening after his first sentence…
No MOYES….we did NOT expect that!😡😡
