When it comes to playing the game of thrones, it’s somewhat surprising to look back at Season 1 and reflect on the ‘big’ action moment of that season. Do you know what it was? Jaime Lannister taking on Ned Stark in single combat. Of course, poor Ned ended up dead in a few weeks time, but since that first season, the scale has only grown.
Breathtaking episodes like Blackwater, The Watchers on the Wall, Hardhome, The Battle of the Bastards, The Spoils of War and Beyond the Wall are an indication that the scale, scope, and spectacle in Game of Thrones only increases.
One man that’s familiar with seeing combat in Westeros is Khal Drogo and it’s clear that Jason Momoa still has a huge amount of love for the show.
While Drogo’s Dothraki army did him proud during their annihilation of the Lannister forces during the Field of Fire v2.0, the star of Aquaman and Justice League says that Season 7 is just a warm-up for what’s in store.
In an interview with EW, the actor gave his overall impressions of what fans can expect: “Just knowing how amazing this season is going to be. It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It’s going to be unbelievable. It’s going to f**up a lot of people. And it was a bummer because I’m a huge fan and I didn’t want to know what’s going on. I was like, ‘Damn, I didn’t want to know that!”
Regarding the idea of a comeback for everyone’s favourite Dothraki, here’s what he had to say: “I just showed up to see [producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and I just happened to see people on set. I haven’t been over there in a long time. You just want to see your friends and then you end up making headlines like, ‘Drogo’s back!’ and I’m like, ‘He’s dead! He can’t come back, it wouldn’t work.’”
As of yet, no premiere date has been set for Season 8 although it’s expected to be in 2019.
