Jurgen Klopp laughs in reporter’s face in very spiky post-match interview

His press conference wasn't much better

You don’t often see Jurgen Klopp in that kind of mood.

Klopp was visibly furious after Liverpool conceded an equaliser from the penalty spot late on in Sunday’s Merseyside derby.

Mohamed Salah had given the hosts a deserved lead before the break but the biggest talking point of the game came when Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit the deck under contact from Reds defender Dejan Lovren.

Running away from goal, Calvert-Lewin went down when Lovren put his hands on his back and Wayne Rooney made no mistake from the spot, ensuring that the spoils would be shared.

Craig Pawson’s decision divided opinion among former Liverpool players and current pundits, Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen, while Klopp clearly felt that the Toffees youngster had deceived the referee.

Speaking to Sky Sports’ Patrick Davison after the game, we saw a spiky Klopp as he demanded to know the interviewer’s take on the spot-kick before laughing ironically when it was suggested that, by the rules of the game, it was a penalty.

“We can stop the interview because I only want to speak to people who have a little bit of an understanding of football,” Klopp said.

After it was put to the German that the studio panel believed that a penalty was the correct decision, he sarcastically conceded defeat in the debate.

“I am sorry. I am wrong. You are all right,” he said before continuing the feisty exchange which is just a tad uncomfortable to watch.

Klopp then took a seat for his post-match press conference but he clearly hadn’t calmed and carried his frustration into his meeting with the media.
