Amazing news!
It feels like we’ve been Rambling Through The Avenues Of Time waiting for this news. Oh yes, it’s business time because Bret and Jemaine are coming back.
Flight Of The Conchords left a massive impression with TV viewers, despite only airing 22 episodes, across two seasons, and it coming off the air back in 2009.
Despite that, fans are still quoting the songs from the show to this day, with our personal highlight being…

The two stars went on to find individual fame, with Bret McKenzie working on the music for The Muppets movies (one of which went on to win him Best Original Song), and returning to play his Lord Of The Rings character for the first of The Hobbit movies.
Meanwhile, Jemaine Clement has done exceptionally well, providing voice work in the likes of Rio, Moana and The BFG, and acting in Men In Black 3, What We Do In The Shadows and hit TV show Legion.
However, this weekend, they have finally (kind of) confirmed that they’ll be reuniting for a Flight Of The Conchords special, in the lead-up to their reunion tour which includes early 2018 dates in Ireland and the UK.
Clement told Indiewire that he and McKenzie have been working on the hour-long special:
“It should be fun…We’ve done some of it before, some of it will be new. Some of it we’ll be working on in the next few months. […] We’ve grown up. We’re not the characters from the TV show, in real life we’re dads now and listen to different kinds of music. The trickiest thing about touring again is getting used to your instrument again. Usually, I take my guitar in the van on the way to work to get used to it.”
This, however, was news to HBO (who aired the show in the first place), who told The AV Club that “The deals are not fully in place. We’ll hopefully have news soon”.
Hopefully, everything gets worked out soon, and potentially the special could lead to a brand new season.
