Man City may struggle to keep Pep Guardiola for much longer

This would be a huge coup

This would be a huge coup.

Pep Guardiola could be set to leave Manchester City in 2019, with Paris Saint-Germain hoping to lure the coach away from Manchester after his current contract runs out, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The French club will be encouraged by the fact that Guardiola only spent four years at Barcelona and three at Bayern Munich.  He is a strong believer in the need to refresh a dressing room after a few years as his intense coaching style can be mentally exhausting for both him and his players.

If PSG were able to bring the coach to Paris, it would be a huge coup for their owners, Qatar Sports Investments, who are commercially and politically big rivals with the Abu Dhabi United Group who own Manchester City.

Not only that, Guardiola is widely considered the best coach in the world and hiring a coach of his standard is the next logical step in PSG’s quest for world domination.

PSG paid a world record fee of €220m for Neymar in the summer, tempting the winger away from Barcelona, offering him the chance to be the main man in the team who could go on to win the Champions League this season.

One would expect that Guardiola would love to work with Neymar, as well as other players in PSG’s incredibly talented squad such as Marco Verratti and Kylian Mbappé.

Manchester City are currently 12 points clear of second place, riding high at the top of the Premier League. Should Guardiola achieve what he set out to do with Manchester City before his contract is up – that is to win the Premier League and the Champions League – it is entirely feasible that he would make the move across the channel to work for Les Parisiens.
