Eva Carneiro leaves Chelsea with legal row thought to be looming

Tom Victor

Chelsea’s dispute with Eva Carneiro has taken another turn, with the club doctor said to have left Stamford Bridge.

Following earlier suggestions that Carneiro could be ready to take the club to court, she now seems set to embark on a legal battle.

The Daily Mail report that the Gibraltarian, who has been with the Blues since 2009, did not follow orders to return to work following her sideline ban.

That ban came as a result of a dispute with head coach Jose Mourinho, who was vocal in his criticism of Carneiro’s actions in the Premier League opener against Swansea.

Carneiro was banned from attending Chelsea games after rushing on to the Stamford Bridge pitch to attend to an injured Eden Hazard in the draw with Swansea.

Mourinho refused to rule out a return for Carneiro and fellow medical official Jon Fearn, but it has been suggested that she was unprepared to take a new reduced role at the club.

Meanwhile Mourinho himself may face an FA charge over allegations that he used sexist language towards the club official during the Swansea game.
