The first poster for Game of Thrones Season 8 teases what we already knew

Winter is here

Paul Moore

Winter is here.

While the Beast from the East has disrupted life in this part of the world, there are bigger threats in Westeros after The Wall did fall. Make no mistake about it, winter is here and the dead are coming. With Season 8 of Game of Thrones currently filming, a few spoilers have already emerged about what to expect but as the Night King advances on the North, Cersei’s enemies are growing.

As things stand, after that dramatic meeting at the Dragonpit, the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms has reneged on her military alliance with Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. this time around, it appears that Cersei doesn’t have Jaime by her side because the Kingslayer was last seen leaving King’s Landing en route to the North.

As the army of the dead approach on Westeros, it’s clear that the Houses of Stark, Lannister and Targaryen are going to have to come together or kill each other because there’s the very real possibility that the Night King is going to kill them all.

There are only six (possibly feature film-length) episodes of HBO’s Emmy-winning hit left, so it’s time to get excited about the remaining few episodes.

Ultimately, who will win the game of thrones? At present, it’s hard to bet against the Night King but Jon, Cersei and Daenerys might have something in mind.

If you fancy an outside bet, the idea that the Iron Throne will be dissolved isn’t the worst shout. Is it 2019 yet?
