Foals, Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran and Noel Gallagher will battle it out at next month’s Q Awards

The Q Awards are always one of the most rock n’ roll nights in the music calendar.

As long as Foals, who lead the nominations with Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, haven’t got an early flight to catch the following day, the bash should see plenty of debauchery.

And who knows, we may also get a taste of the old Britpop rivalry once Noel takes to the mic at next month’s ceremony.

Blur, who released their surprise album ‘The Magic Whip’ this year, scored two nominations and will battle it out against their former Oasis enemy’s latest band High Flying Birds for Best Album and Best Act In The World Today.

But seeing as Noel and Damon Albarn are pals now, and Liam isn’t in the fold, they’ll probably just get pissed in the corner together…

Indie-rockers Wolf Alice, Australian singer Courtney Barnett, James Bay, Liverpool’s Circa Waves and Kent duo Slaves are among the 10 acts in the running for Best New Act.
