Outrageous.
It started with a gasp. Then disbelief at what we had seen. Then we were just laughing.
We would tell Andro Svrljuga to take a bow if he wasn’t so noble and modest that he wanted to run back and just get on with the game.
Zalgiris Vilnius were trailing 2-0 to Traku FK (in that classic game in the Lithuanian league) when Svrljuga pulled this ridiculous volley out of nowhere to draw one back for his team.
From that angle, with a crowded box in front of him and the ‘keeper at his near post, he has no right to be thinking shot here but an astounding, bending strike soon shut us up.
They lost the game but would you really care if you were the man to score this?
