Pele has revealed that Arsenal would be his club of choice in England were he still young enough to be playing.
The Brazil legend is arguably the greatest player in the history of the game, scoring 1281 goals in 1363 games during his storied career with the national team, Santos and the New York Cosmos.
The 74-year-old is opening an exhibition of artworks dedicated to him in London entitled “Art, Life, Football” where he told the Daily Telegraph that the Gunners are the one Premier League side he would love to play for.
“Arsenal is a good team to play with,” he said. “I would play for Arsenal if I had a chance.”
Considering Olivier Giroud’s less than stellar form of late, perhaps the Gunners would welcome Pele with open arms, even if he is kicking on a bit.
When asked which team he would play for in all of world football, Pele admitted he quite liked the idea of teaming up with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.
“Today, Barcelona,” he added. “They are the same style as Santos and Brazil of my day. Almost the same style.”
