Earlier today it was announced that Dec Donnelly and his wife Ali Astall are expecting their first child.
It comes after a hard week for the TV host, as Ant McPartlin’s on-going personal problems mean that Dec will be forced to host the final two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway alone for the first time.
However, announcing that the baby was due, a source close to the couple told The Sun: “They are both absolutely delighted to be expecting — especially as they have been trying for some time.”
“They have both always wanted a family but worried that it might not happen for them. They have been keeping the pregnancy a closely guarded secret, but now that Ali is safely over 12 weeks, they are starting to let people know,” the source added.
With Dec such a huge figure on British TV, people were quick to respond to the announcement on social media, with people wishing them congratulations.

But nobody forgot about Ant McPartlin in all of this. The Geordie duo have been best friends for years and people were also quick to point out how happy Ant would be about his best friend’s news, despite his current personal problems.
@antanddec If this is true, may I congratulate Dec & Ali on the news. Whilst you all have had a tough week, nothing can take away the feeling you get when find out you’re about to have a baby. Ant will be so happy for you, & gives him another reason to fight through his demons.
