Big news for Gavin and Stacey fans.
It’s the ultimate Catch-22. Can you leave a beloved show as it is, or is the urge for a reunion too strong?
Well, some Gavin and Stacey fans have been calling out for another installment of the beloved show ever since it ended in 2010, and now it seems that it might just happen.
The BAFTA Award-winning series, which starred James Corden, Ruth Jones, Joanna Page, Larry Lamb, Rob Brydon, Matthew Horne, was hugely popular when it first aired and it has gained even more popularity in recent years after being added to Netflix.
There’s some good news because Ruth Jones (Nessa) has given fans renewed hope of a comeback after saying that she has had discussions with James Corden about the futures of their characters. “I think Baby Neil, who is now probably about 11… Nessa is training him down the slots. She’s training him in the art of the dodgy grabber machine and how to weight the two pences,” she said.
Given the fact that Corden has been hosting The Late Late Show in the USA since 2015, we think that any reunion might be a one-off event, but Corden has not ruled out doing more episodes.
In a previous interview, Rob Brydon also said that he’s very interested in a Gavin and Stacey reunion. “If James and Ruth want to do it then I think we’d all do it. It’s them really. I think it’s a real balance between, ‘let’s leave it on a high, people love it,’ but there’s also a big feeling of, ‘oh it would be so lovely to get back together an do a special.'” he said.
Larry Lamb (Mick Shipman) is also on board for a reunion. According to OK! Magazine, he said: “I don’t think anybody that was in it would ever say no to it.I think it’s highly unlikely that they’ll ever make another television series of Gavin & Stacey. I think it’s a distinct possibility that one day, they might make a film, that’s it.”
Oh, what’s occurin’? More Gavin and Stacey, it seems.
