These questions and more will be ruminating in the newly shaven-head of Neymar as he attempts to reconcile how a combination of cruel fate and perhaps angry spectres denied him a certain goal.
Barcelona lost the game 2-1, partly thanks to a sensational Sevilla second, but it could all have been so different had a fine effort from the Brazilian resulted in the goal it so richly deserved.
The Catalans were awarded a free-kick with the game still goalless. Up stepped Neymar in Lionel Messi’s absence to curl a delicious strike towards goal.
Sevilla keeper Sergio Rico was beaten to his left, but the ball smacked the post and deflected behind him. Surely it would trickle over the line.
But it didn’t, and instead it rolled cruelly across the entire length of the goal before being hooked away by a grateful defender…
