The Love Island contestants started discussing Brexit, and it went as well as you’d expect

Wil Jones

Love Island is many things, but Question Time it is not

People come to the ITV2 show for many different reasons, but serious political discussion is not one of them. So when Georgia brought it with the other girls, it lead to maybe the finest moment on British TV since that guy flew off the handle on Come Dine With Me.

Georgia innocently asked “What do you think about Brexit?”.

To which Hayley beautifully replied: “What’s that?” *Facepalm emoji*

To be fair, it has only been the biggest and most divisive thing to happen to the nation this century. It hasn’t dominated the media, and the internet, and every discussion you’ve with your friends, co-workers and family, has it?

To their credit, the rest of the girls calmly and succinctly explained to her that we are leaving the EU, with Dani expanding that “welfare.. could be cut down”.

Hayley’s response:

“Does that mean we won’t have any trees?”

*One million facepalm emojis*

Dani continues, saying that it will effect freedom of movement.

Hayely’s dismayed reaction:

“So it will be harder to go on holiday? Oh, I love my holidays.”

To be fair, it’s not like Love Island and Question Time haven’t already crossed over this week.
