Barcelona’s new away kit is a sight to behold
As we edge closer to the new football season, that can only mean two things: transfer sagas and kit reveals. Even during the World Cup, these announcements don’t sleep.
Barcelona have today revealed their new away kit for the upcoming 2018/19 season, and I’m sorry to report that it is, once again, not pretty.
For a club with such consistently beautiful home kits, they really do let themselves down on the away kit front. Occasionally they’ll pull one out the bag with the colours of the Catalan flag, but too often they wear odd colours on their travels, which make them look like eleven substitutes or referees.

The red and blue stripes on the sleeves are a slightly redeeming feature but this shade of lime green should never be seen on a football pitch, really.
The new kit is just the latest in a series of Barcelona away kits that have tested the limits of what a jersey should look like. In recent seasons they have had a luminescent blue-ish/green jersey, as well as consistently changing the pattern of the stripes on their home jersey.
