They’re back
Following the news that Kenan & Kel are working together again,’ 90s kids might just explode with euphoria because Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures have officially announced the return of Rugrats.
Yes. that’s right. Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica will be back and fans of the show will also be introduced to some new characters too.
The new 26-episodes are just a prelude to the main course though because a new film division has also been created to develop projects based on properties from Viacom cable channels. Basically, there’s another Rugrats film coming.
The new Rugrats movie will be written by David Goodman (Family Guy, Futurama) and it’s set to be released on Nov. 13, 2020. There have been three Rugrats movies previously – The Rugrats Movie, Rugrats Go Wild, and Rugrats in Paris.
Return of the Rugrats
If you’re a fan of the original show, fear not because the show’s original creators – Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain – will be involved with the new episodes as executive producers.
“Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures. What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals,” said Sarah Levy, COO of Viacom Media Networks and interim president of Nickelodeon.”
How’s that for a slice of nostalgic gold?
