Chance the Rapper makes surprise release of four new songs

James Dawson

The Chicago rapper announced the new tracks on Instagram

Chance the Rapper has announced the release of four new songs via social media.

‘I Might Need Security’, ‘Work Out’, ‘Wala Cam [feat. Supa Bwe & Forever Band]’ and ’65th & Ingleside’  are available to listen to on the 25-year-old artist’s website and SoundCloud.

The release of the tracks comes after Chance claimed he planning to drop a new album by the end of the week, only to go back on his claim, writing: “Sorry no album this week, def been in the stu tho.”

On ‘I Might Need Security’ he calls out Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel. “And Rahm you done/I’m expecting a resignation/and open investigation on all these paid vacations for murderers.”

On ’65th’, he references his collaborator Donald Glover: “All my raps was about suspension/Then one day Donald took me on tour/Young, broke Chano ain’t broke no more.” And on the same track, he also confirms that he has purchased a local new in his native city “I bought the Chicagoist just to run you racist bitches outta business.”

The lyrics about Chicagoist follow a statement released earlier in the week, in it Chance said: “I’m extremely excited to be continuing the work of the Chicagoist, an integral local platform for Chicago news, events and entertainment.

“WNYC’s commitment to finding homes for the -ist brands, including Chicagoist, was an essential part of continuing the legacy and integrity of the site. I look forward to re-launching it and bringing the people of Chicago an independent media outlet focused on amplifying diverse voices and content.”
