Poor Brendan Rodgers can’t rest his eyes without merciless mockery (Pic)

It’s got to the point that we’ve started to feel a little sorry for Brendan Rodgers.

Everyone and their dog has fallen deeply in love with Jurgen Klopp, whilst the County Antrim man’s contribution to the Liverpool cause has been dismissed as a comical aberration.

Whether it was constant comparisons to David Brent or gags about weight loss and teeth whitening, the former Liverpool man faced constant mockery whilst in charge at Anfield. But one advantage of leaving his post was that all that would stop, right?

Wrong. Rodgers flew out to Marbella with his family to enjoy his new found freedom and catch some rays following his dismissal by the Merseyside club.

But even flying back from Spain, he couldn’t escape ridicule. A fellow passenger spotted the Irishman on an EasyJet flight and took a rather unflattering snap of him enjoying 40 winks.

Perhaps he was dreaming of the Villa job…
