Let the mind games begin.
After the recent confirmation of Conor McGregor’s UFC return, the Irishman has taken aim at Khabib Nurmagomedov’s family.
McGregor will hope to reclaim the lightweight title he never lost in the Octagon when he headlines UFC 229 on October 6.
‘The Notorious’ faces a daunting task in the form of Nurmagomedov, an undefeated Russian with a fiercely aggressive grappling game.
But McGregor has already turned to one of his most reliable strategies as he’s kickstarted the mental warfare ahead of the fight in Las Vegas.
On Friday afternoon, McGregor took a swipe at ‘The Eagle’ in a social media post by mocking Nurmagomedov’s father and coach, Abdulmanap.

McGregor used a screenshot from the footage of his infamous attack on Nurmagomedov’s bus at UFC 223 in Brooklyn to label Abdulmanap “a quivering coward.”
The incident at the Barclays Centre has resulted in McGregor pleading guilty to disorderly conduct in exchange for community service as the controversial Dubliner avoided jail time for throwing a dolly through the window of a bus which held Nurmagomedov and his team ahead of the Russian’s fight for the vacant UFC 155lbs championship earlier this year.
The UFC has decided to use the footage of the attack in their promotion of the main event of UFC 229 and UFC President Dana White has since explained the decision.
“It was definitely something bad that I didn’t expect from anybody,” White said in a BBC interview. “He got in trouble legally in New York. He had to go to court and hire lawyers and go through lawsuits and all kinds of stuff that goes along with something like that. Obviously, going into the fight, it’s definitely part of the story line.”
