On October 16th, 2004, Lionel Messi made his first ever appearance for Barcelona.
Aged 17 years, three months and two days, the Argentine replaced Deco in the 82nd minute of the Catalan derby against Espanyol.
While his potential was enormous, few could have predicted that Messi would go on to be the greatest player of all time, scoring a record 418 goals for Barcelona.
Helping Barca to seven La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns over the past 11 years, Messi has seen plenty of change during his spell in Spain, and he and Andres Iniesta are the only members of that 2004 team to still remain at the Camp Nou.
