Raheem Sterling more than doubled his goal tally for Manchester City with a first-half hat-trick against Bournemouth.
It was Sterling’s first ever career treble, but it was also a club first for a different reason.

While the former Liverpool man is the first Englishman to achieve that feat, he is the eighth City player to take home the match ball after a Premier League game.
Here are the other seven players to fire home Premier League trebles. Some are more memorable than others.
Sergio Aguero
The injured Argentine is the most recent scorer of a Premier League hat-trick for Manuel Pellegrini’s club, with his five-goal haul against Newcastle coming just one game ago, but that wasn’t Aguero’s first for the club.
He scored all three against Wigan in 2011 and all four at home to Tottenham in 2014, before helping relegate QPR last season with three of the goals in a 6-0 win.
Nicolas Anelka
Anelka is one of five players to score Premier League hat-tricks for three different clubs, achieving the feat for Arsenal and Chelsea as well as City.
His only City hat-trick came against Aston Villa in 2003, though he was initially awarded a hat-trick against Everton the previous season only for one of his strikes to later be ruled an own goal.
Mario Balotelli
Balotelli didn’t score as many for City as he might have hoped, but one of the Italian’s most accomplished goalscoring performances came in his first season for the club.
The three-goal haul against Aston Villa in December 2010 included two penalties, but that didn’t matter too much as it helped the 20-year-old get his career in England up and running.
Edin Dzeko
28 August 2011 will likely be remembered more for Wayne Rooney’s hat-trick in a frankly preposterous 8-2 win for Manchester United over Arsenal.
But Dzeko actually outdid the United man that day, finding the net four times as City won 5-1 at White Hart Lane on what would have been an eye-opening result on pretty much any other day.
Robinho
The first marquee signing of the Sheikh Mansour era wasn’t able to build on a solid first season in Manchester, but there were some glorious moments.
The highlight was probably the 3-0 victory over Stoke in 2008, when the Brazilian opened the scoring early on and added two more fine finishes in the second half.
Carlos Tevez
Like Aguero, Tevez scored four hat-tricks for Manchester City. Unlike Aguero, he isn’t likely to add to that total.
Two of the Argentina striker’s City hat-tricks came in his first season, but his most important came in 2011/12. After returning from his golfing exploits, he struck three times in a 6-1 victory at Norwich that helped Roberto Mancini’s side close the gap on Manchester United en route to their first Premier League title
Yaya Toure
Toure has just one Premier League hat-trick to his name, but it was an important one that kept City in the title hunt towards the end of the 2013/14 campaign.
The midfielder scored two penalties against Fulham to keep City in touch at the top. They were still third after the 5-0 victory, but we all know what happened after that.
Paulo Wanchope
The first City player to score a Premier League hat-trick demonstrates how far the club have come in the last 15 years.
Costa Rica striker Wanchope, who until recently was head coach of his national team, scored three for a City side that also included the likes of Dany Tiatto, Kevin Horlock and Mark Kennedy. How times have changed.
