The cringe factor here is off the charts
US President Donald Trump is at the UN General Assembly summit, but the day didn’t get off to a great start, and then quickly got worse for him.
First of all, Trump was late to the assembly, and missed his slot at the podium, forcing Ecuador’s president, Lenin Moreno Garcés, to take his place.
And then when Trump did eventually arrive and give his speech, the audience were less accepting of his words than he might’ve liked:
“Today I stand before the United Nations General Assembly, to share the extraordinary progress we’ve made. In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.”
From that sentence, we can begin to hear some giggles and laughter around the audience, and Trump attempts to power on.
“America’s…”, but the laughter has begun to take hold, and Trump tries to double down on his claim “- so true!”
The laughs are now echoing all around the assembly, and Trump seems a little lost for words.
“I didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s okay.”
More laughs, and now some rounds of applause, before Trump eventually moves on with the rest of his speech.

Elsewhere in that same speech, Trump claims that the stock market “is at an all-time high in history”, offered some praise towards Kim-Jong Un, and denounces “the bloodthirsty killers known as ISIS” and “radical Islamic terrorists”.
Trump also told the UN that “we have started the construction of a major border wall”, which… isn’t accurate.
