For Barcelona fans of a certain vintage, the name Hristo Stoichkov will conjure up glorious memories.

The Bulgarian star led the team to four successive league titles in the early 90s, and had one of the best left feet the game has ever seen.

Now retired, Stoichkov has endeared himself to Barça fans even further with this broadside at the expense of rivals Real Madrid.

“It’s best that they play without a manager; they don’t like any of them,” he told radio station Onda Cero.

Madrid have worked their way through 12 managers since parting ways with Vicente Del Bosque in 2003, with current incumbent Rafa Benitez already coming in for criticism.

A number of players have reportedly confronted the former Liverpool boss over his tactics, and the pressure will surely be on the 55-year-old to deliver trophies if he wants to prolong his stay in the Spanish capital.
