Dimitri Payet, ladies and gents, is at it again
Payet has put together an impressive portfolio of eye-catching goals of the last couple of years or so, and added another entry as Marseille took on Lazio in the Europa League on Thursday night.
It didn’t help their cause too much – Lazio still running out 3-1 winners – but his stunning free-kick briefly brought the Ligue 1 side hope, making the score 2-1 with minutes remaining.

Not bad, eh? Not bad at all.
Marseille were trailing at this point to goals from Wallace and Felipe Caicedo for the visitors. Though it halved the deficit, a stoppage time goal from Adam Murasic made sure of the points for the Italians.
Payet, now 31, returned to Marseille from West Ham in January 2017. The French international helped them to last season’s Europa League final in Lyon, though a hamstring injury in the first half of the game against Atletico Madrid ended his night – and his hopes of making France’s World Cup squad.
Only a few weeks back, Payet had made headlines with a stunning side-footed volley in the league win over Guingamp – scored from a very similar position to the free-kick he scored on Wednesday.
