Richard Keys makes interesting claim about why Raheem Sterling left Liverpool for Man City

Raheem Sterling’s move from Liverpool to Manchester City was one of the summer’s most talked-about transfer deals.

Prior to the move, Sterling’s refusal to sign a new contract at Liverpool generated plenty of headlines and soon saw the England international linked with a host of different clubs.

Having chosen to sign for City, it’s now been suggested that the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola attracted the 20-year-old to the job.

Richard Keys, now a presenter with beIN Sports, has claimed that the player’s agent, Aidy Ward, was told Sterling would soon be working with Pep Guardiola if he made the move to the Etihad.

‘Let me share with you one other thing that persuaded Sterling that he wanted to go to City,’ writes Keys in his blog. ‘I’m reliably informed that Ward was asked to let Sterling know that if he made the move he’d ‘very soon be working with Pep Guardiola.”

The Bayern Munich manager’s name has been linked with Manchester City on numerous occasions in recent weeks, with one report claiming he has already agreed to become the club’s manager in the future.
