With just 72 hours until fight time and around 36 hours to make weight, Conor McGregor stood up.
While it’s 99% certain never to come to fruition, The Notorious has offered to salvage the injury-damaged UFC Dublin card by stepping in for the injured Joe Duffy on three days’ notice.
Duffy had to withdraw from the main event of UFC Dublin after sustaining a head injury in training and a number of UFC stars offered to take the fight.
But the biggest name of all to throw his hat in the ring is McGregor, who told Dustin Poirier that he would allow him a rematch.
I will give peanut another crack at the King no sweat.
I'll take the gate. It's my gate anyway. A cool 7. Cash.
See you at the weigh ins.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) October 21, 2015
McGregor beat Poirier via convincing TKO in Las Vegas last year but continued to campaign for a place on his hometown card, to no avail.
We wouldn’t hold out much hope of seeing this happening but the prospect is pretty damn exciting.
