Snoop Dogg is the latest celebrity to be immortalised on Hollywood Blvd

In the same week his classic debut album Doggystyle turns 25, Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, has finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Feeling the love – as he should – for this landmark moment in his career, a lot of that love actually came from Tha Doggfather himself when in his acceptance speech he thanked himself… a lot.

“Last but not least, I want to thank me for believing in me,” he began.

“I want to thank me for doing all this hard work, I want to thank me for having no days off, I want to thank me for never quitting, I want to thank me for always being a giver and trying to give more than I receive.

“I want to thank me for trying to do more rights than wrong, I want to thank me for just being me at all times. Snoop Dogg, you a bad motherfucker.”

Sharing the milestone with his friends and family, Snoop shared kisses with his wife, Shante Taylor, and was witness to tributes from Dr. Dre, Quincy Jones and Jimmy Kimmel.

Snoop also thanked the fans:

“I’ve been coming to Hollywood for a long time, looking down at these stars and just imagining what it would be like to be down there one day. And it’s a great feeling to look out here and see all the people who really make me who I am: the fans.”

But the most touching moment of his speech came when he paid tribute to Dr. Dre, who recruited Snoop and spearheaded his career back when he signed with Death Row Records in the early nineties.

“Dr. Dre believed in me when I really wasn’t nothing and I’ma say that because I mean that ’cause I really didn’t know what I wanted to do,” Snoop explained.

“When Dr. Dre gave me the opportunity, he didn’t look at me like somebody that was less than him. He looked at me like an equal and we always been brothers from that day.

“When you dealin’ with a star and you coming in as a nobody, it’s easy for the star to down look you or play you low, but for him to look at me even, that’s why we never said no to each other to this day because we always look at each other as brothers.

“Dr. Dre, I want to tell you I love you, cuz, for being my brother through hard times, real times and good times.”

Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle celebrates its 25th anniversary on November 23rd 2018.
