Crikey, fellas. What a year. What a bloody year it’s been
There have been some ups. There have been an extraordinary number of downs. Mainly downs, if we’re honest.
When historians look back at 2018 they’ll say… well, they’ll say nothing, because humanity will have been wiped out by that point, and I for one can’t wait to be dead and rotting in a nuclear crater.
Perhaps I’m striking the wrong tone. When looking back over the past year, we should focus on the positives: the things we achieved, the mountains we climbed, the hardships we overcame, and the love we spread around the world.
Unfortunately, this year was 2018, The Year That Sense Forgot. England had a good run at the World Cup, yes, but this was 2018, The Year That Sense Forgot.
This was also the year that my Guinness intake quadrupled, meaning that 2018 was also The Year That I Forgot. I still exist in the moment that Trippier’s free kick against Croatia went in. That was good. That was a good thing.
As for the rest of it, eh, pretty terrible. But a new year is a new opportunity. Another chance to balls it up again.
